Due to sexual, emotional, and physical abuse as a child and years of marital issues as an adult, I have seen at least a dozen different therapists over the last 30 years of my life. I struggled for so many years with depression, fear, anxiety, low self esteem, relationship issues and having any healthy boundaries. Because of the repeated trauma in my life, I have been diagnosed with severe PTSD. Through a referral of a good friend, I began seeking help from NorthPoint Professional Counseling three years ago. Much work was done through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) with John Sternfels...this, I believe, was an essential tool which is finally bringing much peace to my past. I also have been involved in a ladies' support group led by Trista Jones which has assisted me in understanding that I am not alone in my journey. I have always felt valued and listened to as a client and have been learning to have a voice for the first time in my 57 years of life! I give praises to my God for guiding me to NorthPoint, continuously supplying me the resources to be able to get the help I need and helping me to be the best that He wants me to be. It truely feels good to feel good!
After hearing from my Pastor that he (personally) went to counseling, I decided to go too. I found NorthPoint to be extremely friendly and helpful.
I found the people here to be very incompetent. The counselors need better training. I'm a professional and I do not like incompetence. I would never, ever return to this establishment.
Applied to work here recently and went in for an interview. One of my main specialties is that I counsel LGBT individuals, which is clearly apparent on my resume. I was told by the owner in the interview that while he will see LGBT individuals, he won't help them with coming out or with their sexuality. I began to wonder why he even called me in in the first place. When I reaffirmed that I work with LGBT individuals, he informed me that his practice belongs to God and therefore he needs people who treat LGBT people the way he does, if he were to hire someone that didn't, i.e. me, he would be "offending God" and promptly ended the interview. Not only that but he struck me as very full of himself, telling me that people "worldwide" come to see him. Basically, if you're an LGBT person or couple, don't go here and waste your time.
Continue to withdraw funds from my account without authorization. Be very careful with these people
